A new report claims travelers may be able to score affordable Summer 2026 airfare deals to popular summer vacation hotspots in Mexico, the Caribbean, and even places in Europe.

Dollar Flight Club’s Summer 2026 Cheap Flight Forecast states airfare costs have risen up to 20%, but travel deals are lurking for jet-setters willing to dig for them. The report is based on “500,000 airfare data points across 65+ U.S. departure airports in late April.” To gather information for a summer travel outlook, the company used the aforementioned data and “looked at round-trip economy fares for travel June through August 2026.” The resulting top 10 Most Affordable International Destinations list includes four beloved Caribbean getaway spots comprising nearly half the rankings. Also, under $500 round-trip for U.S. travelers were six European destinations – Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; Oslo, Norway; Reykjavik, Iceland; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Dublin, Ireland. If you’re looking to score cheap airfare to France, Italy, or Spain, the report suggests considering flying toward the end of summer, when you could save up to 40%.

For domestic adventures, Florida and Texas destinations may be your best bets for affordable summer 2026 travel. Destinations you might be able to find cheap airfare to are Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Miami, Houston, and Dallas.

The report noted that airfare costs have risen ahead of this summer due to a combination of factors. Among them are increased jet fuel costs caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and especially for American travelers, the abrupt closure of the low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines.

“The big takeaway is that this summer is going to be harder financially on travelers,” stated Dollar Flight Club’s Founder and CEO, Jesse Neugarten. “Between Spirit Airlines’ historic shutdown and jet fuel prices doubling since the Iran war started, this is the most volatile summer travel market in decades. But the deals haven’t disappeared; they’ve just moved, and travelers need to know where to look.”

“If you can shift to late August, almost every European city gets 30–40% cheaper,” the CEO detailed. And regarding an overall tip for finding the best Summer 2026 travel deals, Neugarten said, “Book now, not later. Airlines are cutting capacity every week. Fares aren’t going to get cheaper, so if you see a deal, book it.”
