Searching for a trip online often means toggling between airfare comparison pages, hotel listings, loyalty program accounts, and several checkout screens. Fare and room rates can change while travelers compare options, and paying with rewards adds another layer since cash prices and loyalty redemptions rarely appear together. Google has been using AI Mode in Search to bring more of that work into a conversational interface. Before the latest update, the tool could already use real-time information to compare flights and hotels, gather recommendations from websites, and build itineraries from detailed requests.

A traveler could, for example, ask for a destination or lodging option that met several preferences without reducing the query to a few filters. The next stage places more of the shopping process inside the same exchange. Google announced the changes on August 27, 2026. Availability, however, varies by feature, country, language, airline, hotel company, and booking partner.

Google AI Mode Adds Flight Price Tracking And Rewards Searches

The first addition moves Google Flights price alerts into AI Mode. Users can describe their desired route and dates, then receive current options drawn from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites. After asking AI Mode to track selected fares and confirming the request, users will receive an email when prices change. They can then follow a link to an airline or booking platform to buy the ticket. Google says conversational flight price tracking is available in more than 180 countries and territories where AI Mode is supported. Still, the company excludes countries and territories in the European Economic Area.

AI Mode can also display the points or miles required for eligible flights and hotel stays. Users specify their dates, route or destination, and loyalty program, and the results use the latest data from participating partners. “Now, AI Mode in Search can show you the cost in points or miles for flights and hotels,” James Byers, Google’s group product manager for Search, wrote in the announcement. Travelers still complete reward redemptions on the partner’s site.

Initial loyalty partners include Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Google plans to add Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines, and Lufthansa Group in the coming weeks. The points-and-miles tool is available globally in supported AI Mode locations and languages. However, Google notes that some functions shown will not be available in the European Economic Area.

Google AI Mode Hotel Booking Starts Rolling Out In The U.S.

The hotel reservation feature keeps more of the transaction inside Google’s AI experience. A user can give AI Mode trip details and hotel preferences, then review a visual set of properties with guest reviews and comparison information. After choosing a property, the traveler can ask for booking help and select “Continue on Google” beside an integrated partner. The hotel booking flow allows the user to choose a room, review terms such as the cancellation policy, and pay through Google Pay.

The hotel or online booking platform remains the merchant of record and handles customer service after the sale. Google has started rolling out hotel booking in English in the United States and says access will expand over the coming weeks. Launch partners include Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

The three tools do not place every stage of every booking inside AI Mode. Cash flight purchases and loyalty redemptions still move users to partner websites, while the Google-based checkout applies to hotels offered by integrated companies. Google also warns in its Search Help documentation that AI Mode can misinterpret online information or miss relevant details. The company recommends checking important information in more than one place before relying on an AI-generated response.
