According to a recent study, heading to Porto, Portugal is the best destination to catch flights — not feelings — after a breakup.
In late January, Nomad eSIM released its report on the “Best Post-Breakup Destinations Around the World,” ranking Porto as the ultimate getaway after a romantic relationship’s end. The coastal gem is Portugal’s second-largest city and is on the Douro River in the northern part of the country.
The international eSIM provider praised Porto as a post-breakup destination due to the city’s “exceptional safety,” nightlife, and number of museums, spas, and nature-related access and activities. In essence, the report highlighted Porto as a place where you can dive into happy, fun distractions.
“Porto offers the perfect combo: cultural enrichment by day, wine tasting sessions in the evening, and exciting nights out to let loose and have fun,” said Nomad eSIM. “The city’s abundance of wellness amenities and spa options means you can pamper yourself all day.”
Porto scored a 70.6% out of 100% on the report’s scale. Closely following were Osaka (69%) and Lisbon (68.7%), with Prague (66.6%) and Denpasar (66.6%) tied for fourth place. Overall, the top 10 provided a variety of destination types, giving travelers the ability to listen to their hearts and follow where they lead.
What Else Is There To Know About The World’s Best Post-Breakup Destinations?
To figure out which cities are best for a post-breakup getaway, Nomad eSIM weighed safety, affordability, and nightlife in each destination. Additionally, the report factored in each place’s number of spas, museums, and nature activities/wildlife tours. The factors were weighed differently, with safety, at 30%, being the most important. Affordability weighed in at 20%, and all the other factors (spas, nightlife, museums, and nature access) weighed in at 12.5% each.
